A little "R & R"

Weekends are supposed to be made for a little "rest and relaxtion". But after last weekend, I need a full on vacation!

Koosu Cave in in Chungcheongbuk Province is said to about 440 million years old. As a limestone cave, it is formulated by erosive action, forming stalagmite and stalactite, which indicates the cave's geological creation. Flowing water and waterfalls create the formation of rocks. The pathway of the cave was created by railings and was well lit and offered some amazing picture ops. The weather that day was wet and rainy, so for the ferry ride to the cave, we were mostly inside chatting it up with the drunken Koreans! Afterwords, I went out to some bars in Itaewon for my friend's going away party. She had just returned from Thialand and was spending a few days in Korea before flying off to Canada. So I got all dolled up in a bathroom stall in the subway to gear up for some serious beer drinking! Getting back at 8am on Sunday left me with only a few hours sleep before catching the movie "300" with some friends. Blood and guts are way better than any romantic crap from a chick flick and it kept me awake!

This week leaves me with report cards to complete, yet agian! I need to get them all done soon though. Thursday my kinders are going on a field trip, so I don't have class with them that day. I get to sleep in and relax a little, before teaching only one class for the day. Having only one class is close enough to qualify as a holiday, isn't it??

Daedunsan

Okay people, mud stains! But I love getting dirty!! It being the spring of the year, mud was impossible to avoid on Mt. Daedun. Some of the hike up was done by cable car and then the long steep hike included a couple of cool suspension bridges of which there was "no swinging or trifling". But we did anyways! The top provided us with a great view and many a photo op along the way. Some people (omomomo) were slow, so I waited forever for them at the bottom.

Busy Times

My kids sure keep me busy! One of my classes is with five year olds and they have bundles of energy. With them knowing little English, it is more challenging than the rest of my classes, but also fun at the same time. We have new schedules at school now and my hours have increased and so on Monday, Wednesday and Friday I get only one break from 10-6. I also teach a class of adults in the evening, so it becomes tiring at days end. But teaching adults is different becuase you do not have to constanntly keep a watch over them. We keep with the book, but we also do a lot of talking as well, so it doesn't feel like teaching. And I get a ride home afterwords with Jack in his cruiser, singing songs all the way!

Couple my work schedule with my social schedule and I am wondering when I sleep! From dinners, to movies to shopping and of course the odd beer and soju, I am never home! This weekend is St. Patrick's Day. I never realized it before but Newfoundland is the only province in Canada to have St. Patrick's day off. Last year's holiday was pretty good, but can I top it this year? We'll seek out a few pubs for green beer, I am sure. I am also going hiking this weekend in Mt. Daedun and so I am excited! More pics to come after the weekend!

A Fairy Tale

Of all the season fairies, the spring fairy was the most popular because she was warm and inviting. And so the winter fairy was jealous of her, and she frooze the warming glow of the spring fairy, thus making her unpopular with everyone. And hence the cold snap that is occuring in Korea right now.

Kinder Grad

Last week was kindergarten graduation, held at a wedding hall not far from my school. And that means for me, that I will lose all my kinders kids. They sort of grow on you after a while, and so I will miss them. On the last day of school my kid's moms got together and had a snack party in the classroom complete with cake and even presents for me! As a graduation gift, I got all my kids books for doing so well in class. I will get to see them in post kinder class, but it won't be the same. This week, I will get all new kids and so I am looking forward to that. This time I get a class of the littlest kids, they are five years old in Korean age. I have met some of them before hand and they are quite cute. So I cannot wait to start the new kinder year.
