Jeju, a big tourist destination for many Koreans and foreigners, is an island of the south of Korea. This was my first plane ride since coming to Korea and I was surprised to see that they allowed me to take a razor on my carry on. Security at its best right there!

While there, our group of seven stayed at the Jungmun Resort, which is also known for its fancy hotels such as Lotte Hotel, and the Hyatt where celebrities often vist from abroad. It was cloudy and calling for rain the whole weekend but we did manage to get a nice view from our hotel room. After a hilarious visit to loveland, we hit up the teddy bear museum. Now I couldn't leave there witout getting a teddy bear. His name is Minju. After a visit to the beach, we had an amazing bbq and a night of beer.

The next day brought a hike to Jeongbangpokpo Waterfall, which is the only waterfall in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. Near the waterfall, there is an inscription written “Seobulgwacha”, referring to Seobul. He was a servant of the Chinese Emperor Jin (BC 259~210) who was ordered by the Emperor to find the substance that would make him immortal.

We also hiked near Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, which rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption about 100,000 years ago. Located on the eastern end of Jejudo Island, there is a huge crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown. While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side is a hill with grass that is connected to the Seongsan Village.
